Max Power 7/11/2010

Our first fixture was V Hythe and Dibden Nitros, this is a fixture that we should have controlled from the start but failed to do so. Our passing game faltered and we were played out of the game. Their first goal came following a poor challenge in midfield that the ref failed to spot they took it on and advantage was theirs. The boys didn’t do a lot wrong but we didn’t connect, leaving us open. Hythe took advantage of this and won 2-0.

Our second fixture was V Hedge End Rangers – A well organised and coached team. The Rangers took an early lead opening up our defence being pulled out of position. We re-organised with Vincey taking that holding midfield position and commanding the game. We equalised from a corner that came from a great shot by Isaac making the keeper push over the bar. Isaac then converted the corner through the keepers hands and a direct hit.

Hedge End then pushed forward in droves to retake the lead leaving themselves fully open at the back, Max C capitalised on this taking a ball from inside his own half and keeping his head, played the ball down the pitch and coolly slotted home under the keeper.

This we thought was the winner, but the ref allowed some extra play and as the game goes they managed to scrape an equaliser with a goal mouth scramble we couldn’t deal with.

Final score 2-2

We kept their goalie busy today with some great saves being forced from Max, Vincey and Isaac.

MOTM – Max Vince played a blinder today in midfield, strong and positive and kept going from start to finish. Well done Max.

Halloween Horrors 31/10/2010

This years Halloween Sunday saw us first play Colden Common C.

The Baddesley boys were slow starters as per normal and quickly slipped behind with a ball that was judged to be over the line after Harry had failed to stop a shot scrambling to save the goal. The two teams were well matched throughout the game and we equalised from Max C picking up the spoils after a rebound shot. CC then took the lead after Harry parried the ball into the feet of tangerine shirts following a strong challenge.

Then we saw the white lightening streak from defence dribbling in and out of their midfield, complete a one two pass with Max C and score a magnificent goal, excellent effort Jacob Heald. Harry was now fully focused in goal and completed some great stops during the second half keeping us in the game. So at 2 – 2 with only one minute to go Ben Sunley set off from the left midfield again snaking through their challenges and wanting to out do Jacob didn’t look for the pass slotting the ball under the CC keeper to score a fitting match winning goal. The Ref blew up seconds after the restart. This result saw us overturn a losing 4-1 defeat at the start of the season. A great performance from all.

We were then against City Central and they honoured their reputation. The game was spoilt by an approach to football that I am pleased to say we don’t play. Unfortunately the young referee didn’t stand much chance of controlling the continual tripping, pushing, shirt pulling. The game ended with City Central winning 3-0.

We need to ensure that all players put in 100% effort on the pitch all the time every time, lets keep our heads from dropping, play our passing game and the results will come.

Man of the Match – There were 3 candidates today –Ben Sunley, continual persistence and determination who was on the end of some strong challenges and scoring a massive match winning goal. Jacob “White Lightning” Heald for a great goal and using his head took the pass and got his rewards, shame you missed the second game, but today’s winner was Harry Thomas, took a couple of knocks, made a couple of mistakes but got his concentration and made some great saves to keep us in the game against Colden Common.

Cheers Neil

The Sun was shining on Wide Lane and also on most of Baddesley Park FC Under 10’s performance.

Our first game was V St Francis. The boys started with some great flair, great passing and link up play and were playing well when Isaac had a great finish disallowed, the referee judging the ball had gone out of play when MaxC cut back from the bye line.

We were then entertained by Max C scoring a fantastic lob over the keeper from about 20 yards out. Play continued with our boys commanding the game, creating some great chances. Our second came from a ball in our own area, Ben Sunley carrying the ball up the pitch passing wide out to Jack, squared for Max C to drive in at the near post. Going into half time 2-0 up.

St Francis then turned the game on its head and scored within a minute of the restart stunning the boys in blue. Then very shortly after, another defensive slip up gave them an equaliser. Some training ground work required there. The boys kept their heads and started playing again, and Max C took his opportunity thumping a shot from the edge of the area which the keeper couldn’t hold onto.

Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to take the points with St Francis equalising again in the dying minutes. Final score 3-3

Our second fixture was V Tadburn. We started well, passing the ball and played as though we had an extra player on the park. Taking advantage of this play Ben S scored a stunning goal in the top left corner following a cutback from Ben P. Continuing in the same vain Ben P got himself on the score sheet scoring a header at the back post from a cross. We then took advantage of a slip up from the keeper miss kicking a clearance and Max C didn’t need to be asked twice converting the loose ball.

Then we became complacent and took our eye off the ball. Similar to the first game straight from the kick off, Tadburn kick started their game, scoring 2 quick goals. We then restabilised in defence and took back command of the game giving ourselves back our two goal cushion after Vincey hit the bar and Isaac mopped up the afters. Final score 4 - 2

During both matches Vincey worked hard and deserved a goal as reward, he commanded centre midfield providing some good distribution for Max C.

There were some great personal performances today which came together in the team. Jack Newbury on the right wing, Vincey in midfield. Max C battling well, being strong and scoring as ever.  So the MOM was a difficult choice but Ben S stole it in the end, his never die attitude, his coverage of the pitch, his goaline clearance. Well done boys.

The only way is up !!! 5/09/2010

Well on another day the story could have been reversed, lady luck was not on our side today. The pitches at Wide Lane are just ready for harvest which did not help our passing game (but the same for both sides).

The season started with an opener against City Central. Both sides had their chances but only one took them. Max C had a freekick turned against the post and the boys had many shots saved, blocked or wide. A number of injuries during the game saw Jack come off only to have to go back on as Charlie took a knock. Harry had a sterling performance in goal, pulling off some great saves and blocks. When all said and done though we didn’t do enough to take control of the game, needing to get to the ball first and chase the lost ball !!!

The second game was V Colden Common C.  A strong and well organised team. Baddesley eventually started play the way we can connecting with some passes. The appointed ref maybe didn’t see the game as we did and a couple of handballs were missed. CCC took the lead with a nice goal and strike taking us to half time 1-0 down. They quickly extended this to 2-0. Something needed to change with Isaac coming off the bench straight in to the action and within 15 seconds had pulled one back. We then put the pressure on hitting the bar and post making the CC keeper make some smashing saves. Unfortunately this didn’t change the outcome of the results with the Commoners winning 4 -1.

Everyone  WILL learn from today and have to step up our individual performances, we need to be first on the ball and remember we will never give up. (Shame the Saints don’t have the same attitude!!)

MOTM – Harry Thomas, great saves which kept us in it.

Points  on the Board 12/09/2010

The first match was against a well organised Hedge End Falcons. The sides started well matched with Hedge End marking Max C out of the game with 2 players. The passing and positional play from the Falcons eventually made some extra room. They also took advantage from a direct goal from a corner. Final Score 4-1 to Hedge End. Vincey scoring for Baddesley.

This meant that the boys from Baddesley Park had to pick themselves up and start again, and that is exactly what they did against Hythe. From start to finish we commanded the game passing, moving and making the pitch look big. Max C took advantage by completing an impressive hatrick. Well done Boys for keeping your heads up. Final score 3-1

Birthday Celebrations 19/09/2010

Well on the day I turned the young age of 40 the boys put a smile on my face.

The first game V Goals United was a close well matched affair with each team cancelling each other out. Neither goalkeeper was tested too much and some good outfield play entertained us all in the sun. Final score 0-0. A fair result.

Our second fixture was against Hamble United and the boys turned it on again. We controlled the match from start to finish. And both Max’s scored goals from the edge of the area, two great strikes and both goals well deserved. Our final goal came from Max C, a great well timed pass into the box with Max C controlling the ball with his left foot (doesn’t happen often) cutting back and scoring with a very cool finish. Thanks boys a great present. Final score 3-0

At least the sun was shining. 10/10/2010

Following an early season 3 week break we took to the field against 2 strong teams. Pace Panthers were first and the game was tight. We passed the ball well in the first half but kept losing our man and  giving them space. This led to the first goal with them getting away down the right and a great strike. We started to lose the basics then, trying too hard, losing possession from easy balls. Pace took advantage of this and scored in the final throws of the game. Final Score 2-0 Pace.

We then went onto play Sportstars, a team yet to lose this season. What started an evenly matched game led to us throwing away what should have been an easy win.  Scrappy play and what seemed like a lack of drive from some players looked like the break had a poor effect on our team. We went behind to a scrappy goal which woke us up a bit, but when your striker is defending on the goal line its going to be tough. The boys did it the hard way, Max C crossed a corner to the back post and Jack Newbury was there to claim his first of the season. Final score 1-1.

We need to get the basics sorted and back into our game. Something for  the training ground.
