Sunday 10th April - Bitterne Youth 0 - 5 Baddesley Park Knights

The Knights finished the season as they started off with a 5-0 victory.

Goals from Jacko, with his first pair for the team, one a great strike from the edge of the box, the other helped a little by a goalie fumble, but as Jacko keeps proving, you hit the target you stand a chance of scoring.

Bradders netted a fine third after nearly scoring an even better effort a few minutes earlier.

With the second half followed a few changes in formation and line up.

Nath came out to right back and filled in admirably, whilst Dan took the keepers jersey.

Matt The Turk went up front with Benno and Jacko and promptly grabbed himself a brace also.  The first was a neat strike, whilst the second was a hotly debated offside as Matt chose to smash in a bobbling ball (heading into an empty net) despite being possibly in an offside position.

The response caused uproar, which continued with tears from the opposition 'linesperson' after the final whistle.

Bendy had a go at right midfield and centre back, Conor showed again that he can be a tidy centre midfielder, Lewis & Dom controlled the left side of the pitch and in a last shuffle, Ash DeLap was sent up front in the hope of bagging a first ever goal.

He had a blinding chance but fluffed his shot a little only to hear Richie Smellybum chant "That's why you're a centerback, that's why you're a centreback !!"

A good finish to the season, the boys have been a privilege to train this year, lets hope for a step up next season hey lads !!

Baddesley Park Knights 1 - 0 Southside

A rare midweek fixture saw the Knights face a greatly improved Southside team, hot on the back of a number of fine results.

Bradders kindly let Alfredo take the capitano armband for the evening, in recognition of a fine season for Alfredo, before he took off to warmer climbs for a well earned break.  Well I say warmer, not actually sure what the temperature is like in Cumbria this time of year.

As the score suggests, it was a tight affair, although the Knights could have run out easier winners than the single goal that settled it.

Bendy netted a route one goal, following a good long kick from Nath, which caught the Southside back four square.

Racing away from the defenders, Bendy slotted the ball into the far corner mid-way thru the 2nd half.

There were a number of chances for each side, Bendy nearly netting two or three times more, but the score finished one - zip, and a home win.

None of the Baddesley parents knew about the managers preferred weekend activities:

Another week, another drama !

This week's penalty shoot out was in fact another shut out, Nath whittled down the competitors but nobody could squeeze through the second round (the left footed round) although Conor had a right good go at it, slamming the ball against the inside of the post with the keeper seemingly beaten - unlucky Conor, so near mate !!

The "Crossbar Challenge" was again looking likely to be a cheap week for me with many of the shots sailing high wide and certainly not handsomely over the bar, or into the back of the net without so much as threatening the target.

Bradders however claimed the bag of sweets with a suuu...weet strike right in the middle of the bar - TIDY !

Bag coming your way Capitano

Baddesley Park Knights 2 - 3 S&D Sports
Well, what can I say ??? On a weekend when Man Utd came from 2 down to cruise past West Ham, and the mighty Saints overturned the same 2 goal deficit to dump the MK Dons, none of us saw this one coming !!

Having discussed the 5-5 draw against the same team back in the early part of the season, and how the importance of stopping the oppositions Captain from bursting thru from the midfield, we promptly dumped those tactics it would seem to revert to our own brand of kick and rush, "swing a leg at it", football.

An early Jacko goal gave hope that we could be in for a good Mother's Day morning.  Like his first ever goal for the Knights, against the same team, he belted the ball high into the net from the corner of the box to give us the lead.

After that, we seemed to think it was going to be the proverbial "Stroll in the Park" and for some reason, despite the pre match warnings, relaxed beyond all recognition.

Tackles were missed, headers were 'avoided' and the on-rushing No.11 was starting to enforce some influence on the game.

Needless to say S&D grabbed an equaliser and then went on to hit the post as well.

You'd think that would give us the lift we needed.......but alas no !

Dom & Jacko had acres down either flank, but the opposition were simply belting the ball long and putting the back four under regular pressure.  Which we, mainly, coped with well.

H/T Baddesley Park Knights 1 - 1 S&D Sports

Half time words were had.  "Get our tackles in, increase effort and commitment and we'd be sure to win."

To be fair to the boys, they did dominate large parts of the 2nd half.

Bendy was starting to break loose and cause their defence some trouble, Benno had joined him up front and was sticking to his task of holding up the ball, but the luck didn't seem with us.

Like the lino in the first period, the half time replacement was equally as eager with his flagging hand and very much keen as his counterpart.  Twice, somewhat tight decisions (naturally) went against us as they seem to so regularly this season.  Bendy netted a couple before the ref blew, but neither counted.

With Alfredo bossing the back line, Conor having yet another stormer at right back, Matt and Ashley working their socks off, Kev decided to go for the jugular and move Matt The Turk into the middle of the park to drive the game back into S&D's half, and it worked.......there could be only one winner surely.

With two minutes to go, Nath banged a long kick forwards and Bendy was in the clear.  Running away from the defence, this time he made sure and slotted the ball comfortably into the far corner of the net.

Baddesley 2-1 S&D.........AND WITH JUST TWO MINUTES REMAINING !

Just need to keep it tight !?!?!?!

A nasty lesson was then dished out by S&D, and one that the boys need to remember.

Straight from the kick off, the yellow and blue stripes burst forward and without a tackle being thrown in anger the ball was in the back of the net before we knew it !!

2-2 and with a minute and a half left.

Surely enough, S&D grabbed a winner.

Baddesley failed to get goal side from a throw in and the ball richoched off Nath as he went to collect it and fell kindly to the S&D striker who could barely believe his luck to have an opportunity to knock the winner into the empty net.

Harsh maybe, but lets hope this isn't forgotten too soon as it clearly hurt.

Final Score

Baddesley Park Knights 2 - 3 S&D Sports

Whilst we didn't deserve this defeat, we certainly weren't the worst team on the day.

We need to take our chances and make our tackles - simples !!!!

Well I suppose I should start with an apology.......

I wasn't aware it had been so long, but we've not had an update on this page for a good few weeks and I've had a stern word with myself about pulling up me socks (as Jody pointed out on Sat morning  - It was to stop the migey bites man !!!)

Recent cross bar challenge winner is Kev the Gaffer Pearce, striking the bar for the first time ever.  Now I never saw it but got a text from Richie Smellybum to confirm and validate.  Paul, so nearly, but everyone can do it 2nd time around can't they ?!?

Nath has won a bag of sweets for the recent Pen shootout prize - the only winner here for a few weeks.

Since the last update, it has to be said there has been a number of ups and downs.

Since the fantastic performance against Brendon '66 on January 23rd, the stop start season has produced just four more games.

We've had frozen pitches, soggy boggy pitches, then to top it all when the surface was sound, we've had no games due to the backlog of fixtures of all teams in the league.

The last four games are highlighted (some more than others for reasons that will become quickly apparent !!) below.

Most recent game at the top:

20th March - Tadburn Panthers 6 - 3 Baddesley Park Knights

posted 28 Mar 2011 14:08 by Nigel Fenwick

Top of the league, unbeaten, conceded just 18 league goals all season and the most consistent team in the league to boot, Tadburn are clearly Champions elect.

Having said that, the Knights gave the Panthers a bit of a scare that the score maybe doesn't reflect.

An early hesitation allowed the No. 10 for Tadburn, a lightning quick and skilful centre forward, the opportunity to head over the on rushing Nathan and into an empty net.

Bummer of a start !!

Tadburn relaxed a little and started playing their football and Baddesley were showing their opponents a little too much respect early doors.

No. 10, call him Pele, or Messi if you like, although the blonde hair looked more like Gary Shaw in the old Aston Villa days, Alfredo's our sole Villa fan, but I'd be surprised if he knows who Gary Shaw is - that's a reference for all us old dads !!

Anyway, No.10 burst through with pace and calmly lifted the ball over the undefended Nath and into the back of the old onion bag - double bummer !!

At this stage you would have thought the Panthers would press on in an effort to repeat their 9-2 thrashing of the lads back in November.

But after a fair bit of pressing and a couple of neat, sharp saves by the Panthers keeper, a free kick on the right hand corner, following a rather crude foul, gave the Knights a chance to get a foothold back in the match.

Capt Bradders reckoned quite confidently that it was a shot, many on the sides thought it may have been a cross. Either way the keeper set himself up badly and got in a bit of mess by standing at the near post - Bradders sailed the ball high over the keeper and into the far post - top strike from distance !!

To give Bradders credit, this ain't the first time he's done it this season is it ?  Perhaps it should be Bradders/Becks on the back of his shirt ?!?

Matt New was moved in from the flank to bring extra support to the strike force and Ash filled in admirably at left midfield.  Ash Delap has certainly proven to be Mr Versatile this season having played pretty much everywhere and being the only boy in the league who can throw the ball 30 yards, Rory'esque !!

The half finished with more good play by the Knights and Bendy was sooo unlucky not to bag a brace before the half was out.

The half-time chat was relatively easy despite the deficit, keep up the good work and tighten up the defence just a little.

H/T Tadburn Panthers 2-1 Baddesley Park Knights

Now, with the game in the balance at half time, and with a slight change of defensive strategy, the Knights came out with renewed confidence in the second half but the game changed on the back of a couple of refereeing decisions that went against the Knights.

Matt 'the Turk' and Alfredo marshalled Gary Shaw to perfection, Dominio at left back was determined more than ever and getting proper stuck in, whilst Conor was having a stormer at right back.  Lewis latterly replaced Dom and continued the strong tackling seen at left back.

Firstly a hotly disputed penalty when the midfield "Dynamo Dan" was harshly adjudged to have handled in the box, despite having both hands to his side. The ball was clearly ball to hand as it bounced up and hit his finger tips - HARSH YOUNG REF, VERY HARSH !!

Nath nearly saved the pen but in them big goals it's nearly impossible for the keeper to make a save if it's right in the corner.  3-1

Not disheartened, the Knights still came forward, "passion aplenty" on show by the boys who clearly had the bit between their teeth.

Jacko, having a cracker of a match, his best for a while certainly, took a speculative shot and clearly managed to put a little more spin on the ball than was apparent to the onwatching spectators as it squirmed under the keeper and trickled (I think that's the right word for it) over the line.  They all count Jacko, and it's reward for a shot on target as we talk about so often in training. 3-2.

Another decision then went against us.  Having come on at half time, Benno was told to get himself in front of the defender to hold up the ball, he did that well but could've had a little support from the Ref when he was "clattered" from behind - that's definitely the right word - with the defender, MAYBE, getting a feint toe on the ball once Benno had thumped to the turf.  The ball was then thumped forward and promptly tucked into the back of the net.  OUTRAGEOUS decision it has to be said. 4-2

A rare slip by Nath, having kept us in the hunt throughout the match allowed a two goal advantage to Tadburn, but to his credit Nath did the right thing and got his chin up, it's important to note no sulking here, he's no need to be sorry with the performances he's put in this season which have made a massive difference to the team's defence this year. 5-2

Having threatened all match, it was finally "Bendy time" and just reward for persistent effort and toil.  Bendy who had been thwarted by the Panthers goalie a number of times got his goal with a cool finish at the end of a mazy run !  5-3.

Now, as if we'd not been harshly treated twice already, there was to be a hat-trick of wrongdoings !!

Jacko slotted the ball through to Bendy who wasn't even nearly offside, yet after two or three "Do I", "Don't I's", the lino on the far side waived the flag (somewhat unsure it has to be said) as Bendy smashed a 20 yard shot beyond the keeper, which would have made it just a single goals difference.

At this point, the usually quiet, some thought shy and retiring Linda blew her top like a volcano !!   "YOU'VE GOTTA BE JOKING REFEREE, YOU KNEW THAT WAS ONSIDE, AWFUL DECISION"  said Linda with a face as red as beetroot !!!

WOW - AMAZIN' !!!!!

That seemed to be the final straw for the boys as a late tap in secured the game for the Panthers.

Top effort all round, man of the match was a tricky decision as everyone contributed and played well but Bendy for providing a constant threat, that on another day could have yielded three or four goals, grabbed the trophy.

Unlucky in defeat, but definitely the first time we've matched the effort shown against Brendon back in Jan.  This performance would beat most of the teams in this league - lets keep it up hey lads ???

6th March - Baddesley Park Knights 0 - 3 Townhill Lingland

posted 28 Mar 2011 14:06 by Nigel Fenwick

I wasn't present for this match, but accounts suggest that the rapidly improving Lingland were justified winners.

Nuff' said.

MOM for 2nd consecutive match was Matt the Turk.

13th Feb - Baddesley Park Knights 1 - 0 AFC Hiltingbury Harriers

A dog of day up Baddesley rec.

It was cold, the wind was bitter, it poured with rain and the result was a footy match that was more about brawn and effort than slick football.

An OG in the first half was enough to steal the points, but a good result nonetheless.

Winning ugly indeed !

MOM for a sound defensive performance Matt the Turk

6th Feb - Oakland Lions 7 - 0 Baddesley Park Knights

posted 28 Mar 2011 14:04 by Nigel Fenwick

Shocker of a week !!

Whilst we were playing the team that was at that stage the top of the league and we only had 10 men, the performance was far from acceptable.

Having started brightly, Baddesley were so unfortunate not to take the lead on a number of occasions but the extra man told eventually and the boys suffered a heavy defeat.

Whilst words were exchanged at the end of the match, the manner of the defeat was the issue, not the result.

It could so easily have been 14 or 15 Nil, which would have been a crushing blow to confidence.

I think we all agreed that we can't be doing with another weekend like this one !!!

Needless to say, there were no qualifiers for MOM this week !!

It's been a long break 23 Jan 2011 - Stewart Osmond

posted 23 Jan 2011 12:17 by Nigel Fenwick   [ updated 23 Jan 2011 12:23 ]

After what seems like an eternity, well since November at least, the Baddesley Park Knights finally took the pitch once again.

Now there was a game that we didn't write up, but it was a heavy defeat to Tadburn, 'nuff said !!

Brendon '66 1 - 1 Baddesley Park Knights

The boys were lining up against a Brendon team that gave them that rain soaked spanking back in October and a team that have lost only once in the League this season. Kev asked the boys to concentrate throughout and apply themselves physically, but with only 11 fit players, it was going to be tough.

The boys started by having to defend in numbers as Brendon began confidently, but gradually we played our way into the game and started pressing the opposition back towards their own goal. With Bradders and Dan forming a formidable partnership in the middle of the park, we all but matched Brendon and the chances started to come.

The two Bens were working hard to close down the opposition and Bendy was particularly unlucky on a number of occasions to get tackled as he went to pull the trigger. The back four were tackling especially well.

Matt 'the Turk' Nich, as he'll be known after the choice of kit at training on Saturday, even headed the ball - MORE THAN ONCE !!  His Dad said he'd have to wash his head for the first time after a match this season !!!  To be fair, Matt had said at training on Sat that he knew how to head the ball, and he was true to his word.

Alfredo took a couple of bangs and had the sign of a studding down the back of his calf at half time.  That's the calf on his leg of course, he's not gone all farmer since we last spoke !!

Midway through the first half, a foul some 25 yds out gave Bradders the chance to unleash a thunderbolt and the keeper was beaten by about 10 feet above his head as the ball flew into the roof of the net - B...E...A...UTIFUL !!!

Brendon 0 - 1 Knights

Baddesley continued on the front foot until the half time whistle and were very much on top.

2nd Half

Now Brendon must've had a sound talking to from their manager as they came out a much improved team in the second half. The Baddesley boys were having to defend much deeper than the first half.

Once again, midway through the half, another important decision that would prove costly to the Knights. On tackling the Brendon Striker, Conor was alleged to have tripped the man, a decision that seemed harsh at the time but the ref was sure of his call.

The penalty taker blasted the ball to the corner of the goal and young Nath "the cat" seemed to be stuck in the mud as he tried to dive to tip the ball away, but sadly it nestled in the back of the net.

Brendon 1 - 1 Knights

The game went a bit end to end, but the Knights to their credit, upped their game again and created the better chances.

The boys at the back stuck to their task well, and helped push the team forward - Conor and Ash were working their socks off down the flanks, to support Alf and Turk in the middle of the back four.

Bradders ran almost the length of the pitch at one stage, only being caught inside the last few yards in the opponents penalty area as he was trying to pick his spot for his shot.

By this time, Ashley, who was later crowned Man of the Match, had literally run himself into the ground and Nath had taken a bang to the knee to leave him limping.

Late in the game and another Ashley Delap long throw, cleverly flicked on by Dan, gave Benno the chance to seal the win. Controlling the ball well (see boys them training sessions do work as we practiced touch and control yesterday) on his thigh, Ben span unmarked but his volley, whilst struck well, flew agonisingly over the bar.

F/T Brendon 1 - 1 Baddesley Park Knights

Whilst Ash Delap won the MOM award, it's important to note that any one of the boys could have picked up the prize today.

More performances like this will see us soon close down the third place position in the table - keep up the good work lads - great effort all round today !!

Weekly Update 7 Nov 2010 - by Stewart Osmand

posted 7 Nov 2010 13:47 by Nigel Fenwick

Let me start with a correction - last week's crossbar challenge winners were in fact Nathan and Jacko !!  Both have received payment of their wins, Nath, just to check ya mum took yours today mate - just in case she's kept them sweets a secret.

It was another weekend of firsts, both in the match and at training.

Daniel the 'Spaniel' won his first ever penalty shoot out, burying the winner on the left footed round right in the bottom corner to net the bag of sweets.

The crossbar challenge was a somewhat costly affair for me this week, another first was young Todderoffski, banging the ball against the underside of the bar to net himself a sugar based reward - just like Nathan, your sweets went to ya mum, via ya big bruv, so I hope you got them, Mia seemed to have her eyes fixed on them quite firmly.

First time striker of the crossbar was also the new boy at training, Liam, who slammed the middle of the crossbar on his first ever attempt, not bad work that - sweets next week Liam, assuming we've not scared you off ?!?

And yet another first, Martin Stubbs, also struck the bar and claimed a bag of sweets, rather than the customary beer, thanks Martin for keeping the expenditure down on a pricely week.

And this can't go without mention, I'm not sure if it's a first or not, and I'm sorry that I couldn't get the camera on my phone to work fast enough to provide evidence, but Mike Garner, on giving the crossbar challenge his best effort (in a pair of trainers), slipped on the wet grass, hovered for a second or two in the laying down position, but unfortunately for Mike, horizontal and two foot off the floor, before landing with a  big wet thud.  Brief concerns as to his welfare were soon put to rest as he broke into laughter.  When asked of his Dad's exploits, Todderoffski could only say "Quality !!!"   Mike then had to go home to Jane to explain the grass stains on his knees and bum !!  Hopefully this will help aid that process ??

Onto this week's match report - get me, on a Sunday evening as well !!

Baddesley Park Knights 8 - 0 Bitterne Youth

As some would have seen, I took my dictaphone with me today as I wasn't sure that after celebrating my 35th birthday last night, my memory would have been up to accurately recalling the facts, as I have done in past weeks.

With the boys knowing they were up against the bottom placed team, great efforts were made to guard against complacency - however I'm not sure they were heeded !!

Sticking with the 4-4-2 line up that worked so well last week, the team was almost the same, apart from Spaniel in goal and Alfredo returning to the back four.

The match started scrappily, with many passes going astray and with a skiddy surface (the pitch that is folks) to boot, the boys didn't really take control of the game as they had last week.

Keeping shape was again an issue as many of the boys bombed forward, leaving large gaps between the midfield and defence, however with the opposition playing with a lone striker, Dan, standing in for the absent Nathan in goal, was rarely bothered.  And I mean literally bothered, at one stage of the game he'd not been involved for some 15 minutes or so, and was busily rearranging the landscape in his penalty area by kicking holes in the dirt and actually facing the opposite way to the onrushing striker.  Good work though Dan, concentration was there when it mattered, we'll come back to that in a minute, or two, depending on how fast you read ?!??

It took sometime to break down the stubborn Bitterne defence, after a series of fine crosses, Jacko netted from the corner of the 18 yard box, just as he had a few weeks previously.  This time however it wasn't the same classy blaster in off the far post. In my own words on the dictaphone it was "oh, Jacko's fluked one, a cross to the far post ends up lobbing the keeper".  Now some may say this was harsh, maybe Jacko meant it, but as he struck the ball, he let out a huge "humph" giving the game away somewhat, and then admitted it was a cross - never mind Jacko, they all count mate !   1 - 0 Knights !!

Seconds later, Jacko swung in another great cross and Benno had a couple of stabs, but unlike last week was charged down by the defenders and keeper.

With the majority of play in the Bitterne half, it sounds like the boys were bossing the match, however it was still scratchy, and the passing left a lot to be desired.

The second goal came as Capitano Bradders casually dropped a shoulder some 35 yards out to skip past his man and run at the back four (just like we ask him to every week) calmly he slid a pass to Dom on the far side and another first followed as Dom stuck his shot across the face of the keeper and into the far side netting, great finish Dom for your first goal for the club !!  Great play by Bradders as well.
2 - 0 Knights !!

The opposition keeper was struggling to clear his lines from the goal kicks and Bendy managed to control one with his head before unleashing a powerful shot, but unfortunately straight down the keepers throat - not literally you understand, that would surely be a feat beyond your standard 11 yr old - and the keeper to his credit held the shot well despite the pace on the ball.

Matt New came close to netting a third, but in his desperation to score and to lift the ball over the keeper, managed unfortunately to get right under the ball and send it high over the bar from close range

Aside from that, the first half was a tad disappointing.

H/T Knights 2 - 0 Bitterne

Now it would be fair to say the half time team talk was a little harder than last week's.

The boys were urged to get the ball under control and find a pass and most of all,  to get their tackles in, which had been poor in the 1st half.

Changes were made, formation went 3-4-3 to provide an attacking edge to the 2nd half, Matt Nich, returning from a sore toe, replaced Lewis and slotted into midfield, Matt New pushed up to the left side of the forward line -  a change that will prove to be a feather in the cap for the manager, Kev the Groovemaster !  Those present on Saturday night will know what I mean !!!

2nd Half

An early 3rd goal relaxed the team a little, Matt Nich played in Matt New who, a little like Dom earlier, struck the ball across the keeper and into the far post.  3 - 0 Knights !!

Matt was clearly relieved to score his first goal for a few weeks, so much so, that his celebration was quite tame, going with the Alan Shearer one finger in the air tribute.

Matt New then doubled his tally with a fourth from close range 4 - 0 Knights !!

The 5th Goal was a peach, the ball bobbled around and a deflected shot looped the ball up and out of the box, meeting it on the full, Bradders showed a touch of class by volleying the ball straight back over the keeper and into the far side of the goal from 20+ yards, great strike and straight out of the Paul Scholes book of spectacular goals. That's been coming all season. 5 - 0 Knights !!

Yet another first then occurred, Matt Nich's sore toe must have been on his right foot, because the 6th goal, was struck cleanly from 18 yards with his normal standing peg, YES, it was it left, almost as rare as a Matt Nich header to be fair, good finish from the edge of the box  6 - 0 Knights !!

Another change in personnel saw Dom replaced with Lewis at left midfield and Matt Nich slotting back into defence to allow Alfredo the opportunity to showcase his talents in the middle of the park, and didn't he do well.

Barely a couple of minutes into his new role, Alfredo seized on a handling mistake by the keeper, swivelled and turned to slam the ball back over his, and the entire Bitterne defence's heads, into the empty net, great technique and thoroughly deserved for the team's Mr Reliable.  The crowd went berserk !!!

Sadly though, despite the classy finish, it only nets him £2 from his Dad - outrageous !!!!!!  I'm going to start a petition for a greater goal bonus on Alf's behalf, who's gonna sign up ??   7 - 0 Knights !!

Behind the management dugout there could be heard mutters of "put him back in defence, this could get real costly !!"

So for this week's quiz, answers on a postcard to the usual address, just who's muttering's were they ??

Now, back to our stand-in goalkeeper Daniel, having had time to brew a cuppa, bake a cake, top it with a nice layer of icing and eat it, Dan was finally called into proper action, the one striker managed to get goalside of the defence and blasted the ball goal bound from 6 yards.  A certain goal surely, but in true bulldog fashion, and without a thought, Dan rushed out and blocked the shot clearing the ball well out of the box with his legs - brilliant save that even Nath would have been proud of.

Dan did however nearly undo that work a few minutes later, managing to fumble a gently bouncing ball shot from a long range shot and gathering it just in time before the line !  I think he was actually showboating for the crowd though !!

With the clock running down, Conor, Matt and Ash (showing some Cannavaro type step overs in the position of last man) had to get a few challenges in to maintain the clean sheet.

Not for the first time, the lino on the far side was having an absolute mare, not only did he have a tendency to whip his flag up at the most strange moments, he managed to deny Benno a goal by flagging him offside when he was actually behind the defender - it was a good finish too, but sadly didn't count.  It transpired as the game went on that the linesman had actually had no idea of the the offside rule, or quite what was expected of a lines-person.

For the first match this season, there was not to be a Ben on the score sheet, despite plenty of endeavour (powerful word that one) the ball just wouldn't break for either of the Ben's up front, never mind lads, save some for next week when we play the top of the league hey ?

One final goal remained, Matt New bagging himself his first (let's hope not last) hat-trick of the season, a neat step over in the six yard box sold the defender a treat and the shot held too much power for the keeper.   Matt celebrated with a fine rendition of the Macarena (that was in the spell checker strangely) in the centre circle.  8 - 0  Knights !!

The final whistle was met with a content round of applause, and the commentary on the dictaphone was "8-0 final score but in the main poor". Still, winning ugly is an art, we'll take that and try and improve in time for the visit of league leaders Tadburn next Sunday.

I shan't be about for the next match, still celebrating my 35th birthday, so I'll provide my mobile number and will trust the parents present at the match to update me for a different style of match report next week - could be interesting.  We'll take a summary of the comments to form a unique match report.

F/T Knights 8 - 0 Bitterne

MOM award this week went to the Hatrick Hero Matt New - well done Matty !!

Laters Dudes !!!!!
